$8.7B for SDB, small biz, minority loans

      The Treasury Dept. announced $8.7 billion to be made available to 186 community financial institutions through the Emergency Capital Investment Program. The program aims to increase lending to small and minority-owned businesses, and low- to moderate-income consumers in underserved communities. The funding will be channeled through banks, credit unions and holding companies designated as Community Development Financial Institutions or Minority Depository Institutions. The minority depository institutions will receive $3.1 billion.
