Protests drop in number

The number of protests filed by federal contractors with the GAO dropped by 12% in fiscal 2022, down to 1,658, according to the GAO’s latest report on protests.

The number of protests decided on the merits declined to 455, down from 581 the previous year. That was a 22% reduction.

Of those 455 cases, 59 were decided in favor of the protester. That was a 13% sustainment rate, slightly lower than the 15% rate last year.

The most prevalent reasons for sustainment were an unreasonable technical evaluation, flawed selection decision or a flawed solicitation.
