GSA computer BPAs
The General Services Administration put category management into action in mid-August with a reverse auction to set up Blanket Purchase Agreements for agencies to buy potentially thousands of laptop and desktop computers.
Customers included GSA’s Chief Information Office, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Defense Health Agency, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Defense Logistics Agency, according to a report by Federal News Radio.
“The discounts offered by industry from the GSA schedule price list were an average up to 18.97% from the initial eBuy submission,” a GSA spokeswoman told the newspaper.
GSA worked with NASA and the National Institutes of Health to set up six standard configurations for the laptops. Small business resellers were able to participate if their products were “technically acceptable” and if they could provide all six configurations, the GSA spokeswoman said.
