SBA makes grants for small business support
A total of $3.4 million in awards to small-business growth accelerator organizations were made on August 31. The funding was provided by SBA’s Office of Investment and Innovation, Office of Native American Affairs, and Office of Veterans Business Development, along with the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation and the Dept. of Education.
SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet noted that the awards are bringing “entrepreneurs and innovators together and connecting them with local and national resources that support small business job creation and growth.” There are now over 200 support organizations that have received funding under the program.
Each awardee receives $50,000 from SBA. The accelerators then commit to report “jobs created, funds raised, startups launched and corporate sponsors obtained.”
Awardees are distributed nationwide. Search the awardee list for accelerators in your vicinity at http://goo.gl/bktCUW.
