DoD falls short
The Defense Dept. has competed fewer than half its contract spending so far in fiscal 2016, according to the latest data from the department.
For the first three quarters of fiscal 2016, the department competed 49.7% of its procurement spending.
The major agencies with the highest percentage of noncompetitive contracts included the Air Force, 31.3% competed and the Navy, 39.4% competed. The Army competed 53%.
Major DoD agencies that competed the largest share included the Defense Logistics Agency, 82% competed; and USTRANSCOM, 96.6% competed.
