Anti-fraud bills now law: HSBC
A new bipartisan law is in effect extending to 10 years the amount of time that the Justice Dept. can prosecute certain fraud cases involving pandemic-related small business loan fraud. It was written by House Small Business Committee Chair Nydia Velazquez, D-NY, and Ranking Member Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-MO. Audits have estimated $4.6 billion in fraud in the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and $84 billion in fraud in the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program (EIDL).
