SAM, UEIs to be improved: GSA
The “SAM” website for registering as a federal contractor and obtaining a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) soon will be undergoing improvements due to concerns raised by users and industry members, the General Services Administration wrote in a recent email to users of the system. The exact timing of the changes was not specified.
The changes will include:
- Providing information at start of what documents and information are needed;
- Asking for all entity information up front so you just have one ticket;
- Step-by-step instructions on entity search and document provision;
- The ability to indicate where you want to use one document for multiple pieces of entity information;
- Clear confirmation that your documents were submitted and links to information on next steps;
- Improved help articles on FSD.gov and improved on-screen popups with definitions and links to relevant resources; and
- Cleaner, simplified appearance.
Entity validation is still required, as is attaching documents (for some entities). Timelines for existing validation requests are not affected.
