GSA’s look at FY2022 small biz procurements
While the Small Business Administration’s annual scorecard of small business procurement is expected to be released shortly for fiscal 2022, another federal agency just released findings on related issues.
The General Services Administration published a Small Business Landscape Analysis for FY22 indicating significant trends in the federal government’s small business spend.
Here are the highlights:
- Over half of federal awards went to small businesses in fiscal 2022;
- Small businesses received $151.56 billion in federal obligations in fiscal 2022, down from $154.2 billion in fiscal 2021;
- The US government obligated 24.1% of its dollars to small firms in fiscal 2022, exceeding the 23% goal;
- Socioeconomic Small Businesses captured 62.5% of all small business obligations, up from 52.9% in FY21; and
- Small business obligations on the Federal Supply Schedule totaled 42.1% vs. 22.6% for non-FSS contracts.
