House Small Business Committee: SBA’s 2023 budget hearing

The SBA has requested a $1.06 billion budget for fiscal 2023, an increase of $26 million from the current enacted level, according to the House Small Business Committee, a 2.5% increase.

However, the SBA’s Congressional Justification says SBA wants $914 million in new budget authority for FY2023. Clarification on the apparent discrepancy was not immediately available.

Among its new requests, the SBA seeks $20 million to take over the VA’s CVE program for verification of SDVOSBs and VOSBs. There’s also $10 million for small business climate change-related loans.
