GAO proposes $350 fee to file bid protests
The Government Accountability Office plans to start charging a $350 fee to file a bid protest, after years of charging no fees, the agency said in a Federal Register notice.
The GAO also announced it is setting up an electronic case filing system for bid protests, to be called the Electronic Protest Docketing System, the notice stated.
GAO was mandated to set up the electronic filing system and the fees to pay for it by Congress, in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2014.
According to the GAO, the new electronic system, once established, will be the sole means for filing a bid protest at GAO. However, protests involving classified information will be handled separately.
Public comments are due by May 16.
