Guzman sworn in to head SBA
Days after being sworn in on March 17 to lead the Small Business Administration, Isabella Casillas Guzman outlined how the agency will provide COVID-19 relief for small firms.
Guzman told the Associated Press her immediate focus is on carrying out the small business loans and other relief measures in the recently-signed $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan coronavirus relief package.
She also intends to update SBA’s technology and to develop the Rescue law’s Community Navigator to raise awareness of available programs.
Guzman was senior advisor and deputy chief of staff at the SBA in the Obama administration. She also was director of California’s Office of the Small Business Advocate and has held positions at ProAmerica Bank, and with consulting firm GovContractPros, which she co-founded.
She also is known as “Isabel Guzman.”
