Black-owned hit harder by COVID-19
Black-owned businesses have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, according to a report from House Small Business Committee Chair Nydia Velazquez, D-NY. Read the report at https://bit.ly/2Ott06d.
Black owners face historic barriers including lack of capital and mentors, but also these COVID-19-related challenges:
- Being clustered in industries hit hardest by mandatory closures and social distancing;
- Being located in urban areas with more COVID cases; and
- Receiving fewer federal loans.
