PTACs to be ‘APEX’ centers

      The Defense Dept.’s network of 90 Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs) will be renamed as APEX Accelerators under a new memo signed by DOD and the Small Business Administration, the DOD announced.

      The PTACs--formerly run by the Defense Logistics Agency--transferred to the DOD’s Office of Small Business Programs on Oct. 1.

      Under the DOD-SBA agreement, the 90 PTACs will work more closely with SBA’s network of more than 1,000 Small Business Development Centers.

      DOD and SBA leaders said the memo agreement will allow the APEX and SBA centers to coordinate on training, education and cross-referrals.
