Firms warned on FOIA request
Federal contractors who filed Type 2 “EEO-1” annual reports describing their employee demographics--by sex, race/ethnicity and job category--from 2016 to 2020 may be at risk of that data being released, according to the Labor Dept.
DOL recently posted a public notice that it was considering whether to comply with a journalist’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for the data.
Vendors may seek exemptions to the disclosures by Sept. 19.
Federal prime contractors and first-tier subcontractors must file the EEO-1 reports if they have 50 or more employees and a contract or order for $50,000 or more. DOL estimates that 15,000 contractors are affected by the FOIA request.
