14 locations to get new SBA program

The chief of the Small Business Administration announced a new initiative to provide intensive assistance to small firms in 14 communities.

“I also launched Scale-Up America – another competitive program that will bring intensive SBA assistance to up to 14 cities with strong small business growth potential. We’re excited about this program, because more than 90% of new jobs generated by small businesses come from the expansion of existing businesses,” Maria Contreras-Sweet, SBA administrator, said in a speech on July 15.

The SBA released a solicitation describing the initiative and seeking contractors to deliver the assistance.

The new initiative will aid “high-potential small businesses and entrepreneurs that are primed for growth beyond the start-up or early stages,” the SBA said.
