SBA to change size standard methodology
Another big change could be coming to Small Business Administration size standards for small businesses.
The SBA announced in a proposed rule that it wants comments on its new methodology for defining what it means for companies to be “small” in each industry. Some standards currently are based on revenue, others on number of employees, and others on other factors.
The SBA is asking for public comment by June 26.
In the newly-revised Size Standards Methodology, SBA is proposing that it must consider economic conditions and the impact on small businesses in the industry, in addition to industry data, in setting standards.
The SBA also wants comments on whether size standards should be regional, and whether size standards should be lowered, among other issues.
