DOL: Equity in Megaprojects

The Labor Dept. recently launched its Mega Construction Project Program to promote equal opportunity for vendors in large federally-funded infrastructure projects.

The Mega program was created by DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) to help contractors access a diverse pool of workers on large “Megaprojects” valued at $35 million or more, for a year or more, and funded at least partially by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law of 2021.

OFCCP, along with the General Services Administration and the Transportation Dept., will provide extensive and no-cost compliance assistance to contractors and subcontractors on the projects. The focus is on fair employment practices and in attracting more underrepresented communities into the workforce.

OFCCP will engage with community groups to assist with recruitment and hiring of workers, and also will conduct compliance reviews.
