End of self-cert SDVOSBs?

      As one of their final acts as House committee chairs, Rep. Steve Chabot, R-OH, and Phil Roe, R-TN, said they both support legislation to end self-certification for service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSBs).

      Chabot, who chairs the Small Business Committee, and Roe, chair of Veterans Affairs, said the goal of HR 7169 is to better align the Veterans Affairs Dept. and Small Business Administration contracting programs for SDVOSBs and reduce fraud in the programs. The bill was submitted by Rep. Trent Kelly, R-MS.

      The fate of the legislation is uncertain, as Chabot and Roe will be stepping down as chairs when Democrats take over House leadership in Janary.

      Self-certification of SDVOSBs “has led to years of fraud, waste, and abuse,” Chabot and Roe said in a joint news release.
