FBO transition not so smooth
The government’s longstanding Federal Business Opportunities website was folded into beta.SAM.gov two weeks ago, with bumps along the way and some lingering concerns.
Also known as FBO.gov and FedBizOpps, the procurement website was a live listing of federal solicitations, source sought notices, announcements and other information. Those functions migrated to beta.SAM.gov in early November, with some changes.
In the initial days after the migration, users reported problems getting the new Web page to load, and long wait times for additional Web pages to load.
Judith Zawatsky, assistant commissioner in the General Services Administration’s Office of Systems Management, told Federal News Network on Nov. 21 that those initial issues have been resolved. The GSA also released Helpful Hints for the new website.
Even so, some users are disappointed over loss of easy access to past searches and archived documents.
“The biggest complaints seem to be about the lack of push notifications, trouble saving searches, and the loss of years of curated documents from FBO.gov,” Nick Wakeman, editor, wrote in Washington Technology on Nov. 22.
