Biden names Cabinet picks
President-elect Joe Biden named several of his top Cabinet picks for national security, including prominent women and Black Americans.
Here is the list:
- Anthony Blinken for Secretary of State: He previously served under President Bill Clinton and President Barack Obama.
- Janet Yellen for Treasury Secretary: She is an economist and was the first woman to chair the US Federal Reserve.
- Alejandro Mayorkas – Secretary of Homeland Security: He is a Cuban-born attorney who served as Obama’s homeland security deputy secretary.
- Linda Thomas-Greenfield – US Ambassador to the United Nations: She formerly was the assistant secretary of state for African affairs.
- John Kerry – Special Presidential envoy for Climate: The former U.S. Senator will be Biden’s Climate Czar.
- Avril Haines – Director of National Intelligence: She is an attorney and previous deputy director of the CIA.
- Jake Sullivan – National Security Advisor: Previously served in the same role for Biden.
