Contractors must pay sick leave
President Obama on Labor Day signed an executive order requiring federal contractors to offer their workers up to seven days of paid sick leave per year.
White House officials said the order would affect 300,000 federal contract workers who currently have no paid sick leave. It also would help additional workers who currently have fewer than seven days of paid leave.
Starting in 2017, workers will earn one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked.
Critics are calling the order yet another mandate for federal contractors.
