UNICOR info not up to date

A recent GAO study found that the U.S. Bureau of Prisons relies on studies from the 1980s to assess the effectiveness of UNICOR in teaching inmates skills for reentry into society. UNICOR is a government-owned contractor that uses prison labor.

“BOP relies on outdated studies,” the GAO said.

It said UNICOR’s effectiveness cannot be fully evaluated without new studies on prisoner recidivism.
