HSBC OKs 7 small business bills
The House Small Business Committee on July 29 voted to reauthorize the Small Business Administration’s entrepreneurial training program for veterans, along with 6 other bills.
HR 3469 would authorize the SBA’s “Boots to Business” for five years.
The panel also approved legislation to improve cybersecurity and lending practices and reporting for small firms.
The bills are:
- HR 3462: To require SBA to assess and report on its cybersecurity infrastructure and on cyber threats, breaches and attacks;
- HR 4515: To establish a cyber counseling certification program in Small Business Development Centers to provide free cyber training for small businesses;
- HR 4513: To amend the Small Business Act to create enhanced cybersecurity assistance and protections for small firms;
- HR 4256: To increase to 15%, up from 5%, the percentage that a federal savings institution or other financial institution may invest in a Small Business Investment Company;
- HR 4481: To establish a registration system for 7(a) agents to collect data to track and evaluate their performance; and
- HR 4531: To require an annual report to Congress regarding the performance of loans made through loan agents.
