GAO wants ‘outcome’ data
The Government Accountability Office recommended in a new report that federal agencies should use “outcome-oriented” metrics in procurement--measuring cost reduction or avoidance--to potentially save billions of dollars each year.
GAO forwarded its advice to the Defense, Homeland Security and Veterans Affairs departments and NASA. The Army, Navy, VA and NASA agreed with the recommendations, but DHS did not.
