Vendor survey on win rates
Seven out of 10 U.S. federal contractors report a bid success rate of 30% or less, while preliminary research suggests a historic win rate closer to 45%, according to a new survey of more than 30,000 vendors by Richard Wagner & Co. of Leesburg, VA.
“This demonstrates a significant gap between the competitive bid realities for public sector contractors in the past decade when compared to historical metrics of success,” the summary report stated.
Other findings included:
- 55% of respondents said non-price factors, such as technical solutions, key personnel and past performance drive award decisions;
- 50% win rates are expected by IT and professional services firms;
- 25% win rates or less are anticipated by defense companies.
