Waivers to end for furniture, radiology equipment
The Small Business Administration has published notices of its intention to terminate class waivers of the Nonmanufacturer Rule for furniture and related items, and also for radiology equipment, due to an increase in small business suppliers of such products. Comments are due by March 9.
Under the Nonmanufacturer Rule, an awardee of a small business or socio-economic set-aside contract valued at $250,000 or more must provide its own product or that of a small business manufacturer, unless a waiver is in place. Class waivers are in place for industries with too few small business manufacturers.
With sufficient small manufacturers in the following industries, the SBA seeks to terminate the following class waivers:
- NAICS code 337215 and Product Service Code 7195: Furniture Frames, Parts, Metal, Wood and Finished Plastics, Manufacturing;
- NAICS 337127 and PSC 7110: Furniture, Factory-type (cabinets, stools, tool stands, work benches, etc.), Manufacturing;
- NAICS code 339113 and PSC 7195: Furniture, Hospital (hospital beds, operating room furniture, etc.) and Laboratory-type (benches, cabinets, stools, tables, etc.) Manufacturing; and
- NAICS code 334517 and PSC 6525: Irradiation Apparatus Manufacturing.
