DOD releases Cyber guides
Audits to start in mid-2020
The Defense Dept. released its Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) guidelines for DOD contractors and subcontractors with the goal of protecting the DOD supply chain from hackers.
The framework applies only to new contracts and will be phased in over five years. The CMMC has five levels, depending on work performed. Third-party audits of compliance are expected to start in mid-2020, and certifications will be required in DOD solicitations starting in late 2020.
