Govcon min wage upheld
Rose to $16.20 on Jan. 1
On Jan. 6, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit brought by five states opposing the $15 per hour minimum wage that went into effect for federal contractors a year ago.
U.S. District Court Judge John Tuchi in the District of Arizona agreed that President Joe Biden had authority to set the federal contractor wage terms in an April 2021 Executive Order.
The states challenging the order were AZ, ID, IN, NE and SC.
Under the same order, on Jan. 1 the minimum wage on covered federal contracts rose to $16.20 per hour, and increased to $13.75 per hour for tipped employees on such contracts.
