OMB, DOL ask agencies to name labor advisors
Federal agency leaders have been asked to appoint one or more career employees as labor advisors by Feb. 15 to assist their federal contractors in complying with labor laws.
Shalanda D. Young, director of the Office of Management and Budget, and Martin J. Walsh, Secretary of Labor, made the request in a Jan. 10 memo.
The request stems from a recommendation from the White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment and is intended to strengthen contract labor practices and to improve compliance with contract labor law requirements for federal contractors.
Labor advisors also should receive additional training and their work should be coordinated with labor advisors at other agencies.
