Small biz goal appears met
Data.gov: 23.8% in FY2017
The latest federal data indicate that the Donald Trump Administration achieved 23.8% for small business procurement in fiscal 2017, exceeding the government’s 23% goal.
It was a drop from last year’s level of 24.4% under President Barack Obama.
It is the fifth year in a row that the goal was reached. The Obama administration exceeded the goal four years in a row.
The data are shown on the Data.gov Small Businss Dashboard. The Small Business Administration has not yet certified the results for its annual procurement scorecard.
The figures still could change before the SBA issues the final report.
The value of small business procurement rose from $100.1 billion in fiscal 2016 to $105.3 billion in fiscal 2017.
Small and disadvantaged firms won 9.1% of total obligations, meeting the goal, and service-disabled veteran-owned small firms won 4.1%, meeting the goal. Goals were not met for women-owned or HUBZone firms.
