Groups object to diversity EO
DOL issues RFI
Opposition is growing to President Trump’s Executive Order prohibiting race-related "divisive concepts" in diversity training by federal contractors.
In recent weeks, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce spearheaded a coalition of dozens of business groups urging the president to withdraw the order.
The EO "will create confusion and uncertainty, lead to non-meritorious investigations, and hinder the ability of employers to implement critical programs to promote diversity and combat discrimination in the workplace," the business groups wrote in an Oct. 15 letter to the White House.
Meanwhile, the Labor Dept. on Oct. 21 published a Request for Information inviting "comments, information and materials" relating to diversity and inclusion workplace training.
Federal contractors and subcontractors and their employees are encouraged to voluntarily submit materials from their own training programs for a review, noting that the materials could be made public.
