HUBZones get disaster credit
To boost HUBZone small business disaster recovery contracting, the Small Business Administration is recommending that agencies apply the RISE Act of 2015.
Under the law, agencies awarding disaster aid contracts to HUBZone-certified small firms located in the disaster area get double credit toward small business goals.
The law authorizes SBA to create set-asides for small businesses located in Presidentially-declared disaster areas, including HUBZone firms, and to give agencies double credit for awards to these small businesses, the SBA said in a recent bulletin.
For example, a $15,000 contract to a HUBZone firm in an eligible disaster area would get a $30,000 credit toward the agency’s small business goals.
