Draft sick leave rule for fed’l contractors

President Obama has drafted an executive order requiring federal contractors to offer at least 56 hours of paid sick leave annually to their employees.

If the president moves forward and signs it, it would apply only to contractors and subcontractors covered under the Davis-Bacon Act, Service Contract Act or Fair Labor Standards Act.

Its goal is to put federal contractor sick leave policy on par with those in the private sector. The New York Times said it obtained a copy of the unreleased draft.
