New per diems start on Oct. 1

      The General Services Administration on Aug. 17 announced the fiscal 2023 daily reimbursement rates for official travel, known as “per diem” rates. The new rates are in effect on Oct. 1.

      The standard lodging rate for the continental US will increase to $98 per day, up from $96. The standard rate for Meals and Incidental Expenses (M&IE) will remain at $59 per day.

      The maximum lodging rate for some locations will be higher than the standard rate for 316 locations. The maximum M&IE rate is unchanged at $79.
