DHS push is on for HUBZone awards

The Homeland Security Department is making a huge effort to reach its 3% HUBZone prime contracting goal, Tony Bell, DHS “OSDBU” director, said at the American Express OPEN Summit for Success. It’s the only small business goal DHS has not reached yet for the current fiscal year.

As of Aug. 7, DHS had 2.96%, or $280 million, in HUBZone prime contracts for fiscal 2014.

“We are putting a big emphasis on HUBZones in the final weeks,” Bell said.
