Justice Dept. investigates AbilityOne

The AbilityOne program, which oversees numerous work sites with disabled workers that receive $3 billion in federal contracts each year, is under investigation by the Justice Department and several inspectors general for alleged fraud, mismanagement, illegal operations and other charges, according to an exclusive report by CNN.

AbilityOne is run by a commission of presidential appointees. They receive referrals from SourceAmerica, a nonprofit agency. Many of the AbilityOne sites are nonprofits; some compete with small businesses, while others team with small businesses.
