DHS commits to OASIS contract
The Homeland Security Department has committed to using the General Services Administration’s “OASIS” contract for professional services to replace the current “TABSS” contracts.
“OASIS will eventually replace the department’s Technical, Acquisition, and Business Support Services (TABSS) contracts, which successfully meet the department’s current needs but expire in two years,” Sorraya Correa, DHS chief procurement officer, wrote in a blog entry. “Efficiency and cost were the key factors in DHS’s decision to use OASIS in lieu of awarding new contracts to replace TABSS.”
OASIS (One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services) is a strategic sourcing vehicle said to improve efficiency and lower prices. But federal strategic sourcing efforts also have resulted in reduced numbers of small vendors in the markets in which those vehicles operate.
Jim Ghiloni, program manager for OASIS, told FCW that DHS likely will obligate $250 million a year on OASIS.
