Wong hints on FY2018 small biz scorecard

The SBA’s annual Procurement Scorecard showing small business utilization in fiscal 2018 has not been released yet, but Robb Wong, SBA’s associate administrator for government contracting, offered some tidbits at a Senate hearing on June 12.

“In 2017, we reached a record $105 billion to small businesses, and we expect to greatly exceed that in 2018,” Wong said in his prepared statement.

There were hints of good news on HUBZones. “We will soon report that the HUBZone Program achieved its best contracting performance in FY18, in terms of contract value since 2011 and in terms of percentage since 2012. While we have not yet attained the government-wide 3% goal, we continue to make progress,” Wong added.

Schedules terms RFI

If you have any special terms in your GSA Schedules contract, now is the time to tell GSA those terms are critical for you. Comments are due by July 5 on the GSA’s draft version of the terms and conditions for consolidated schedules.

“It is absolutely essential in this case,” Larry Allen, a government contracting consultant, wrote in a recent blog. The consolidation “almost certainly will wipe out any special terms and conditions your company has negotiated...Make sure that GSA knows how important those terms are to your firm,” he added.
