Davis-Bacon updates

The Labor Dept. has issued a notice that it is proposing to update the Davis-Bacon Act minimum prevailing wage regulations for construction contracts. The law requires that construction workers on projects receiving federal funding are paid according to the prevailing wages in their localities.

Comments are due by May 17.

The goal of the update is to address stakeholder concerns about DOL wage determination backlogs and delays, along with enforcement challenges, and to provide “greater clarity” and enhance the usefulness of the regulations.

The Davis-Bacon regulations have not had a comprehensive update in almost 40 years.
