Chabot on 25% goal idea
GOP lawmakers had pressed for raising the government’s small business goal to 25% in recent years, but the House Small Business Committee took no action on it last year (See story in Jan. 5, 2018 edition of Set-Aside Alert).
Asked about raising the goal to 25%, Committee Chair Steve Chabot, R-OH, told Set-Aside Alert that the committee is “taking a deeper dive into the current formula” for the small business goal.
“While raising the current threshold from 23% to 25% has been a long-term initiative, we want to ensure that those taxpayer dollars are awarded to a wide range of small business contractors-not just a handful,” Chabot said in an emailed statement.
