Set-Aside Alert Small Business Federal Contractors Shutdown Survey

      Set-Aside Alert conducted an online survey from Jan. 7 to an. 13, 2019 to gather information about the impact of the partial government shutdown on small business federal contractors.

     A total of 424 responses were received, including 380 responses from small businesses. Of the companies that responded, 61% reported having current contracts with agencies affected by the partial shutdown.

  • 35% of the contractors surveyed said they currently are experiencing “significant” or “substantial” negative effects of the shutdown; 64% said they expect significant or substantial negative impacts if the shutdown continues for two more weeks, and 76% expect significant or substantial negative impacts if the shutdown lasts another month;
  • 21% said at least some of their employees were not working and receiving no pay;
  • 39.8% expect to ask the government for an Equitable Adjustment after the shutdown is over.
