Biden names Guzman to head SBA

President-elect Joe Biden nominated California small business advocate Isabel Guzman to lead the Small Business Administration.

Guzman currently serves as director of the California governor’s “Go-Biz” Office of the Small Business Advocate, where she handled economic recovery efforts to small firms. Gov. Gavin Newsom, in a statement, called her a “true champion for small businesses.” Guzman previously was SBA’s senior adviser to the administrator, and deputy chief of staff, from 2014-2017 in the Obama Administration.

She also co-founded the government contracting consulting firm GovContractPros LLC, from 2018 to the present. She was an advisor to the founder of ProAmerica Bank in Los Angeles from 2009-2014.

She earned a bachelor of science in business administration and economics from the U. of Pennsylvania.
