SBA Funds New Women's Business Centers The Small Business Administration announced it will fund eleven new Women’s Business Centers in seven states. The centers provide training, counseling, and mentoring services to women entrepreneurs, including those who want to start a business. The new ones bring the total number to 91. SBA also offers an online Women’s Business Center that can be accessed 24 hours a day at http://www.onlinewbc.gov/. The new centers were funded under SBA’s 2003 budget. They will share $1.65 million and must partially match their federal money with private donations. SBA provides funding for the first five years of a center’s operation, but the Bush administration has proposed ending federal support after that. The Senate passed legislation that would continue funding beyond five years; a similar provision is in the pending House version of the SBA reauthorization bill.
