SBA takes over veteran certs
The Small Business Administration took over certification of SDVOSBs (Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses) and VOSBs on Jan. 1.
Existing self-certifications of SDVOSBs are being phased out. Self-certified VOSBs and SDVOSBs that file a completed application for SBA certification by Dec. 31, 2023, may continue to self-certify until a final SBA decision.
Firms verified by the VA prior to Jan. 1, 2023 will be considered certified by SBA throughout the remainder of the three-year term, plus an additional year.
Additionally, SDVOSBs are eligible for certification if they are small in any of their NAICS codes. Previously, they were only eligible in their primary NAICS code.
Partial reciprocity is allowed between the 8(a), “WOSB” and the veteran small business certification programs.
