DOD wants to limit size of protege firms
A protégé firm would have to be less than half the size of what is allowed in its primary NAICS code to be eligible for the Defense Department’s mentor-protege program, under new proposed amendments. Currently, any small business in its NAICS code is eligible.
The pool of eligible mentors would expand to include large and small businesses. The new program encourages 8(a) graduates to be mentors as well.
Also, nontraditional defense businesses may become proteges for the first time.
