Rung says $2.1B saved through smarter buying
U.S. Chief Acquisition Officer Anne Rung, who soon will be leaving the administration for Amazon, outlined savings from initiatives to leverage federal purchases.
“We’ve saved more than $2 billion through category management and are on track to save $3.5 billion by the end of next year,” Rung wrote in a blog post.
Discounts have been as high as 50% on laptops and computers, she added, and by year’s end 45% of the $1.1 billion a year in those purchases will be consolidated.
In addition, she wrote, the administration has met and exceeded small business goals.
