Simplified acquisition bill
A bipartisan group of lawmakers has introduced a federal IT acquisition reform bill known as “RFP-IT” that would raise the simplified acquisition threshold to $500,000 for purchases of IT services from small businesses, among other provisions.
Simplified acquisition procedures allow for more flexibility in purchasing, and often are used to ease small business contracts.
The bill, introduced by Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-CA, is being viewed as a possible alternative to the “FITARA” IT acquisition legislation approved by the House and pending in the Senate.
