NDIA survey
The majority of defense-related companies in a recent survey said they closed offices and initiated teleworking in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) in a May 13 report summarized the results of the survey of 132 defense-related businesses--about half were small businesses. It found that:
- Most companies followed CDC and OSHA guidelines;
- Most small companies are not providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to their workers due to telework, while 30% are providing it onsite;
- 64% of respondents said available supplies of PPE were adequate to protect workers;
- Some companies are providing PPE, adjusting workstations for social distancing, and reorganizing schedules for fewer workers during each shift;
- More small and midsize businesses applied for PPP loans than applied for EIDL loans; and
- More small businesses than midsized firms applied for PPP loans;
