Entrepreneurs can find and comment on proposed federal regulations affecting their businesses at the new Regulatory Alerts Web page, http://www.sba.gov/advo/laws/law_regalerts.html, managed by SBA’s Office of Advocacy.

The page provides one-stop access to proposed regulations in Acrobat Reader format. Proposed rules published in the Federal Register are organized by topics, including environmental, safety, health and labor, procurement and taxes. You can submit comments on the proposals electronically in most cases.

At the bottom of the page are links to other regulatory-related sites and to the Office of Advocacy.

The official website for federal regulations is www.regulations.gov. Since it is designed to contain all published rules, it is not nearly as friendly as the advocacy site. It is also organized by topic and includes a search engine that the Advocacy site lacks.

Regulations.gov was one of several government sites honored as “E-Gov Pioneers” at the E-Gov 2003 conference in Washington this month. The site is operated by the Government Printing Office and the Environmental Protection Agency.
