CVE transfer logistical gaps
The task forces preparing the transition of SDVOSB/VOSB certification from VA to SBA appear to be encountering serious logistical concerns.
The transfer is “deceptively complex,” attorney Steven Koprince wrote in a blog. “ Will the SBA have access to all the veterans information, including medical/mental health/service records?”
The VA’s CVE unit under a 2006 law verifies and certifies SDVOSBs/VOSBs for top-priority in VA contracting. For other agencies, vets self-certify. Congress in 2020 approved moving the CVE functions to SBA. However, VA has the records, including sensitive information, to verify veteran status.
